Army Body Fat Calculator

The body fat percentage is calculated using the Hodgdon and Beckett's formulas created at the Naval Health Research Center in 1984. In original form these formulas require the input data to be in centimeters with an accuracy of 0.5 cm. But our calculator above has been adjusted to operate with measurements in inches.

Army applicants for initial appointment as commissioned officers must meet the standards of AR 600–9. Body fat composition is used as the final determinant in evaluating an applicant’s acceptability when the weight exceeds that listed in the weight tables. Any other applicants must meet the standards of the below table. Body fat composition is used as the final determinant in evaluating an applicant’s acceptability when the weight exceeds that listed in the weight tables.
